Dear Lord, you were poor but you did not take advantage of anyone. You even instructed Peter to catch a fish and use the coin in the mouth of the fish to pay your taxes. I/we do not expect to wipe out our debts by going fishing. I/we admit, Lord, that we have debts. That I/we are spending more money than I/we have. There are many things I/we could do without. Teach me/us the courage to live within our budget. Give me/us the strength to remove from my/our life/lives whatever encourages overspending, and replace it with a stronger relationship with You. Then, as I/we gradually pay our bills I/we will be happy with what I/we need rather than what I/we think we should have.
